Should you always coat all 4 sides of the deck board with Ipe Oil, or is that just for specific conditions?

I started using Ipe Seal on my end cuts and coating all four sides of my deck boards with Ipe Oil. Since then, I've had no problems!

Ipe Oil is great because it doesn't leave a shiny finish like a clearcoat. Other brands tend to dry like a clearcoat, where Ipe Oil soaks in and keep the wood looking natural, but protected.

It may pop it back to life with the color, it probably won't reverse any damage that has already started but it could possibly prevent new rot from happening.

Our hardwood deck is already cracking. If we use the Ipe Oil will it prevent any further damage?
