    Wash, Roll, Wipe. Easy application, I like that. And it looks great on my tigerwood decking too!

    There are several deck finishes on the market claiming to all work great, but the Ipe Oil is the best at protecting your hardwood deck. The finish looks great on our Tigerwood deck and best of all it is a low odor formula.

    I started oiling my deck with way too much oil. I thought that if I put more down, more would absorb over time. How wrong I was. This left it tacky. I should have watched the video first and wiped off the excess. I wasted at least a quarter of the gallon. Lesson learned.

    We just purchased your Ipe Oil from a dealer in California and intend on laying it down this weekend; but had few questions. Last year we applied another oil that left a clear coating on the surface. How would you recommend getting this off to prepare for the Ipe Oil? Also will the Ipe Oil leave a coating on the board surface like the other product? Thanks Shirley

    Shirley,

    If there is a clear coat left on the surface of your decking, I would recommend cleaning that off before applying our Ipe Oil. Here is a link that explains how to clean your decking… http://ipeclip.com/hidden_deck_fasteners/how-to-clean-hardwood-deck/.

    I would then let the deck dry for 24-48 hours before applying the new Ipe Oil. You want to make sure the moisture is out of the decking before applying any finish to ensure good penetration into the decking boards.

    I am in New England and the temps here have really been droppng at night. Is it still safe to apply Ipe Oil during the day when it’s 65 degrees but drops to the 30′s at night?

    According to the application tech sheet from Ipe Clip downloads, you should apply Ipe Oil when surface temps are between 45-90F. Then allow 24 hours in good drying conditions. Maybe this will help out Bo.

    (Be sure to wipe any access oil off the deck after 5-30 min. with a rag)
