I currently have sikens cetrol on my ipe decking, but am not happy with its performance. I would like to know if I can change over to Ipe oil. Would I need to lightly screen or sand the floor, or can I just power wash it and apply the ipe oil over the previous finish? I have watched the video on ipe oil, but could you send me any additional jnfo, on application of the product. Thanks, Steve

In order to get the best penetration and end finish with our Ipe Oil I would definitely recommend sanding the deck boards. I am not sure how long that you have had the Sikens down for; but it is not a good idea to mix finishes. Some decking oils tend to leave a clear residue on the top of the boards unlike Ipe Oil; so it could make it look worse by applying it directly over the other product. I have a potential client that has Ipe siding on south facing walls and the existing finish is disintegrating. I’m wondering if Ipe oil will work and hold up to the harsh conditions?
